About the author

Anika Neugart, Seoul, South Korea, 2019.

TRAVEL SLOWLY was founded in September 2020 by Anika Neugart.

She was already engaged with sustainability in her studies of Cultural Management (M.A.). Her master thesis led to an article in the magazine Kulturpolitische Mitteilungen (German language, No. 164, 2019).

Anika loves to travel. During her trips, she encountered many deficits in the tourism industry, e. g. elephant riding and long neck villages in Thailand, tethered baby monkeys in Malaysia as well as underpaid and bad equipped porters in the Himalayan mountains.

When she found out about the Slow Travel movement, she realized the sustainability and necessity of this travel type. It is time to become aware of the connection between the own actions and the environment. Furthermore, short and long distance flights should be avoided. On TRAVEL SLOWLY she writes about the travel trend to popularize it.

Furthermore, Anika wrote the book “Simply Green. Von Achtsamkeit bis Zero Waste. Nachhaltige Lebensstile im Faktencheck” (German) and holds lectures about various sustainability topics.

About TRAVEL SLOWLY

The TRAVEL SLOWLY blog was founded in September 2020 by Anika Neugart to publicize Slow Travel as a form of travel. It is not a private travel blog, but a source of information.

In view of climate change and over-tourism in many areas of the world, travel behaviour should change. Slow Travel is a sustainable and therefore modern way of travelling.

TRAVEL SLOWLY offers explanations of the term “Slow Travel” as well as regular blog posts (see article).
